Now in his thirteenth year of directing camps nationally, Coach Young brings an extensive coaching and playing experience to the Brian Young
Soccer Camp at St. Edward’s University. He has recently finished his sixth season as the head coach at St. Edward’s University where he
led the 2009 Men’s Soccer program to the team’s first Heartland Conference Championship since 2000. Young was also named the 2009
Heartland Conference Coach of the Year. During the 2009 season, the team faced seven nationally-ranked opponents. In 2008, he led the
Hilltoppers to their best season in their last seven years where the team was nationally ranked for almost the entire season, moving up as
high as 12th and finishing on the cusp of making its first NCAA regional appearance since 1999, with a 13-4-2 record. Young has also coached
two All-Americans at St. Edward’s University and his team has been awarded the NSCAA Academic Team Award for five consecutive seasons (2005-2009), while posting a career Heartland Conference record

Young came to St. Edward’s after spending six years as the assistant men’s soccer coach at Brown University in Providence, R.I. He helped the

1999, and 2000). The 1999 squad advanced to the sweet 16, while the 2000 squad made the Elite Eight. Young coordinated national and inter-
national recruitment of high-school student-athletes. He assisted in coaching five All-Americans and 11 players who have been drafted in the
annual Major League Soccer Superdraft or have signed MLS contracts (FC Dallas, LA Galaxy, Kansas City Wizards, Columbus Crew and New
England Revolution). While he was at Brown, the Bears posted an overall record of 61-35-10 (.576) and an Ivy League record of 28-8-5 (.683).
Prior to Brown, Young spent one year as an assistant coach at Bates College, where he helped the team to the East College Athletic Conference
tournament and the Bates, Bowdoin, Colby (BBC) title. He was co-founder, technical director and head coach of Bruno United Futbol Club from
2002 to 2003. Young was also involved with Lake Travis Soccer Club in Austin. He was the head coach and director of player development for the
club, where he led his team (U14) to the 2003 state finals. Young was also the ‘90 Boy’s head coach with the Olympic Development Program for
South Texas Youth Soccer.
Young played collegiate soccer at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, N.H. As a senior he helped his 1994 team to the first NCAA Divi-
sion I tournament appearance in UNH history as his Wildcats finished with a 15-5-2 record, playing 11 matches against top-20 teams. He earned
All-North Atlantic Conference Tournament honors in 1993 and 1994, as well as helping New Hampshire capture the 1994 North Atlantic Confere-
nce's regular season championship. Young finished fourth all-time in career assists and ninth in career points. After graduating from UNH, Young
played professionally with the Cape Cod Crusaders in the United States Interregional Soccer League from 1995 to 1997. Young holds a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, NSCAA National Youth Diploma, USSF National Youth License, and a USSF ‘A’ License.
